spring pilgrimage 2019

On April 11, 2019, club members met at the Nancy Carroll Roberts Library to carpool for our Spring Pilgrimage. We first had lunch at Café Excel and then headed to the Texas A&M gardens. Everyone had a great time and got much exercise as well.

FALL PILGRIMAGE - 2017

It seems the Fall Pilgrimage was destined to fail! There were some members who were not able to come at the last minute because of illness or other emergencies happening.  AND, we found out at the last minute that our "Host" location was not prepared for our visit. Yet, it did not deter these members from making the best of the situation.  They headed to our beautiful little downtown and walked the streets to view the annual Scarecrow competition entries, shopped one of our favorite places and finished with lunch at Must Be Heaven.  All agreed that it turned out to be a "heavenly" kind of day.  Thanks to Donna Bennett, Chairman, for organizing and then reorganizing!

FALL PILGRIMAge 2016

Twenty of our members carpooled to Burton to the beautiful home of Tom and Janet Whitener’s home, T Bar J Ranch.  After touring the lovely home and gardens, they made a stop at JW's in Carmine for lunch on the way home.  Here are a few pictures from a most enjoyable day.

Spring Pilgrimage - April, 2016

Several members headed East to Kingwood very early on Friday, April 15th, to attend the Kingwood Garden Club Home and Garden Tour.  It was a glorious day made even more so by the beautiful homes and garden we got to tour.  Though none of us came home with a plant from the plant sale, there were plenty to purchase, including many beautiful planters.  A couple of us couldn't resist trying our luck and bought raffle tickets for some of the beautiful items they had displayed.  Sadly....neither of us won anything, or maybe she is keeping quiet!  We had a delightful lunch at La Madeleine after viewing the first two homes and then finished up the tour afterward. What a fun day! If you missed it, do plan to go time.

And....you best be on your good behavior!  A friend of Sandy Batt's, whom she had not seen in at least 10 years, was the greeter at one of the homes!  That was the lagniappe for the day.

Fall Pilgrimage - October, 2015

Sherry Barkman and Twila Tate, Pilgrimage Chairmen, promised a "Surprise Pilgrimage" and surprise us they did!  We gathered at the Methodist Church parking lot Friday, October 16th to begin our adventure.  Nineteen members piled into four vehicles and off we went to our first destination. Lucille Welch, accompanied by husband, Dr. Bill Welch, joined us on our first stop. For details of our special day, go to "Blog" on the navigation bar at top of page.

Spring Pilgrimage - April 2015

After a very busy beginning of the month preparing for our flower show, eleven members took a much needed break on April 23rd to visit the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort gardens. We especially enjoyed seeing the wildflower garden and the Hummingbird Garden, both filled with beautiful plants.  Carolyn Sander was a great help identifying those we couldn't.  We had lunch in the lovely dining room afterwards, enjoying great conversation around the table.

Here are a few pictures taken that day.  Patsy and Sandy found a cute little sheep...he looked cute, smell...not so much!
